Assistant Farm Manager / Smallholding Lead (Part‑Time) job in Surrey

  • Pay: £13 to £15 per hour
  • 14 to 20 hours per week

I’m a full‑time professional who has bought a bare field near Dorking to develop into a small, commercially‑focused farm/smallholding.

I’m looking for an experienced, practical person to take the lead on setting it up from scratch and then looking after the day‑to‑day running of the holding.

The land currently has no infrastructure, so initial work will include planning and installing water, basic structures and housing, fencing, and soil/land preparation, then establishing and caring for chickens and/or vegetable areas.

Over time this will grow into an income‑generating operation (eggs, produce, hay/haylage and related products), not a hobby project, and I’ll be involved in decisions and learning as we go – but you will be the main hands‑on person on site, so I need someone reliable, organised and comfortable taking responsibility as the project develops.

This is a part‑time role of around 14 hours per week (typically about 2 hours a day), with hours and responsibilities likely to increase as the farm develops.
