Livestock Farm Manager job in Aberdeenshire

  • Pay: £42,000–£55,000 per year
  • Up to 50 hours per week

A well-established and forward-thinking livestock farm in Aberdeenshire is seeking an experienced Livestock Farm Manager to take full responsibility for the management of its beef and sheep enterprises. This is a hands-on leadership role where you will oversee the day-to-day running of the farm while also contributing to longer-term planning and performance improvement. The business operates with a strong focus on animal welfare, efficiency and sustainable farming practices, and is looking for someone who can continue to drive standards forward.

You will be directly responsible for all aspects of herd and flock management, including feeding regimes, health monitoring, breeding programmes, calving and lambing operations, and ensuring livestock are maintained to the highest welfare standards. Working closely with vets and advisors, you will implement herd health plans, monitor performance data and make informed decisions to optimise productivity and profitability. Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues are essential in this role.

A key part of the position involves managing and supporting a small on-site team. You will be responsible for organising daily workloads, setting clear expectations, training staff where required and ensuring a positive and productive working environment. During peak periods such as lambing and calving, you will lead from the front, ensuring operations run smoothly and efficiently.

In addition to livestock responsibilities, you will oversee general farm management duties including pasture and grazing management, fencing, machinery operation and maintenance, and ensuring the farm remains well-presented and functional at all times. You will also handle record keeping, compliance requirements and contribute to budgeting and cost control, ensuring the farm operates efficiently within financial targets.

This role would suit someone with proven experience in livestock management who is confident working independently and making key operational decisions. The ideal candidate will be practical, organised and forward-thinking, with strong leadership skills and a genuine passion for livestock farming. Experience in both beef and sheep systems is highly desirable, along with a good understanding of modern farming practices and compliance standards.

In return, the farm offers a competitive salary package, high-quality accommodation, pension contributions and paid holiday, alongside the opportunity to take real ownership of a respected farming operation. This is a long-term role offering stability, responsibility and the chance to play a key part in the ongoing success of a progressive livestock business in one of the UK’s leading agricultural regions.
